Spread a thin layer of soft food into the grooves.

Plain yoghurt, wet dog food, mashed pumpkin or a thin smear of peanut butter. Check the label: xylitol is toxic to dogs.
Count the calories
What goes on the mat counts as food. Cut back the next meal a little.
Keep it clean
Wash after each use. Old food in the grooves goes off quickly.

Questions
What can I put on it?
Plain yoghurt, wet dog food, pureed pumpkin or a thin smear of peanut butter. Check the label: anything containing xylitol is toxic to dogs.
Can my dog chew it?
It is made for licking. If your dog chews or bites at it, take it away and use it only when you can supervise.
Will the suction cups stay on?
They hold best on a smooth, dry surface such as tile, a bath or a window. Carpet and textured floors will not work.
Can I freeze food on it?
Silicone mats are often used that way, but we have not tested this one, so we do not recommend it.
How long should a session last?
Ten to fifteen minutes is a good length for most dogs.
